What’s Your Reclamation?
There is some period of time, usually at the end of the work or school day, in which we transition from the outside-doing-achieving-world, to the inside-more-personal-space. It’s reclamation time. What’s that?
Not sure how to do this?
Try one on these for the first 20 minutes when you arrive home. You can reclaim solo or with company, a partner, a friend, a family member. First, step away from the technology. Turn off your phone, close the laptop and hide the remote. Now, take the time to consider what most quickly eases your mind and refreshes your soul. So, what’s your favorite reclamation?
#1: Listen to your favorite playlist, and sing
#2: Light some candles
#3 Pump oxygen into your system
#4: Warm up in front of a fire
#5 :Sip something soothing, a glass a day . . .
#6: Walk: the dog, by yourself, or with a friend
#7 Get out and into the garden
#8 Meditate or just breath deep, for awhile
#9 Retreat and read
#10 Just Be Still
Most importantly, be conscious of taking some time for yourself at home before an evening of chores, activities and entertainment begins.
As Ben Franklin once said, “He that can take rest is greater than he that can take cities.”
